One of the most iconic attractions in Las Vegas, the Fountain Show at the Bellagio is a must-see for anyone visiting the Strip. Combining music, dancing water and light, the Bellagio delivers beautiful performances daily with its majestic fountains. Best of all, it is totally free! Read on for everything you need to know, including the Bellagio water show times.
Family-Friendly Bellagio Fountain Show
The Vegas Strip is home to one of the America’s most ambitious and fantastic water features – the Fountain Show at the Bellagio Resort & Casino.
The Bellagio Fountain Show is a magnificent ballet of dancing water fountains. More than 1,200 fountains rise from center of Bellagio’s 32,000 square foot lake, Lago di Como, for a breathtaking display of choreographed water, lights, and music.
Songs range from classical to opera to Broadway show tunes to rock and roll, with artists such as Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Frank Sinatra, Andrea Bocelli, and even Elvis. It is without a doubt one of the top fun and free things to do in Las Vegas.
Each performance of the Bellagio Fountain Show is unique in expression and interpretation, so no matter how many times you have seen the Fountains, there is always something new to wow you. If you’re visiting Las Vegas with kids, they will find the show fascinating!
Fountains of Bellagio: An Engineering Marvel
The Bellagio Fountains are truly a marvel in modern engineering.
The company responsible for designing and maintaining the Fountains of Bellagio is WET Design, who specialize in intricately designed light and water shows.
The Fountains of Bellagio are actually a series underwater pipes which have more than 1,200 nozzles. In addition, the fountains have four thousand individual lights which are accompanied with a stunning and state of the art sound system.
The shows are so complex, there is a staff of approximately 30 people working seven days a week, 365 days a year to clean, maintain and make any necessary repairs between shows.
There are three type of fountain nozzles used in the show. The first type of nozzles are oarsmen. This nozzle causes the water to swing back and forth and give the appearance that the water is dancing.
The second type of nozzles are called shooters. This type of nozzle makes water shoot straight up in the air and can be adjusted to accommodate any angle. The third type of nozzles are jets. Jets eject the water at a high rate of speed.
Overall, the Fountains of Bellagio span more than 1,000 feet wide, and can rocket the water as high as 460 feet into the air.
Where to Watch the Bellagio Fountain Show
The Bellagio Fountain Show takes place in the elegant lake in front of the Bellagio Resort & Casino on Las Vegas Boulevard. If you see the lake, you’ve located the Fountain Show!
View from the Sidewalk
There is plenty of space on the sidewalk along the Strip to view the show. Find a spot along the front rail overlooking the lake. Center is best, but honestly there is no bad spot! During the daytime, crowds are typically light, and you can easily find a spot to watch the Bellagio Fountain Show.
On the other side of the lake just outside the Bellagio’s main entrance, cross the driveway and Bellagio’s Porte Cochere to view the fountains from the resort side with Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Bally’s in the background.
Restaurants Overlooking the Bellagio Fountains
If you are up for spending a little money on a meal (and ideally not bringing the kids) Bellagio has a number of upscale restaurants with both indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the fountains.
- The Mayfair Supper Club
- Spago
- Lago by Julian Serrano
- Le Cirque
- Jasmine
- Yellowtail Japanese Restaurant & Lounge
- Picasso
- PRIME Steakhouse
Across Las Vegas Boulevard, you’ll find even more options. Check out Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino’s Beer Park bar which overlooks the fountains, as well as the French bistro, Mon Ami Gabi.
Rooms Overlooking the Bellagio Fountains
Finally, consider booking a Strip View room overlooking Lago di Como for a great view of the Bellagio Fountain Show.
If you stay at the Bellagio, book a “Fountain View” room, with the best views in the center and mid-level in the tower. The great thing about a fountain view room at the Bellagio is you can tune in to the music on your hotel room television and watch the show from the comfort of your room while listening to the music it is synchronized to!
Other nearby hotels also feature rooms with views of the lake, but you won’t get the music. Look for rooms with a view of the lake and Bellagio Fountain Show at Paris Las Vegas, Bally’s, Cromwell, Flamingo, Planet Hollywood, Caesar’s Palace and the Cosmopolitan.
