Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Review
Visiting Los Angeles with kids? Consider a stay at the swanky but family-friendly Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown.
A flagship for the brand, the hotel opened in 2017. It’s chic design draws inspiration from the neighborhoodâs history. Design elements incorporate everything from underground speakeasies and tunnels, to old Hollywood, Chinatown and more.
One of the first things you notice when entering the lobby of this Los Angeles hotel is the wall of hats, a floor to ceiling installation of bowler hats. It is such an unexpected and visually interesting display. On the floor is a colorful flower-patterned rug that references Fiesta de Las Flores, a Mexican-American cultural celebration that dates back to 1894.
Nods to L.A. history and culture continue throughout the hotel, from the exposed brick wall near the elevators to 18 Social, a penthouse cocktail lounge that evokes the Golden Age of Hollywood.
It’s these kinds of photo-worthy touches that make Hotel Indigo a delightfully unique property! But at the same time, it also provides all the comforts and reliable amenities you’d expect in an established hotel chain brand.
Downtown L.A. Hotel Location
Hotel Indigo is in the heart of Los Angeles. It is close to many Los Angeles landmarks and within walking distance to the Grammy Museum, Microsoft Theater, Staples Center and L.A. Live complex, where youâll find tons of fabulous restaurants and shops. It is also close to Universal Studios Hollywood.
Rooms at the Hotel Indigo
There are 350 rooms in this high-rise hotel. We stayed in a standard king room, which was a fairly spacious 350 square feet and featured an elegant little sitting area. Like the lobby and public areas, the hotelâs rooms are strikingly designed with a vintage Hollywood feel.
All rooms feature free Wi-Fi and pillowtop beds. Comforts include premium bedding, refrigerators, 43-inch flat screen televisions and Keurig coffee makers. Floor to ceiling windows provide spectacular views of the city.
If youâre like me and appreciate a luxurious hotel bathroom, Hotel Indigo does not disappoint! The spa-inspired bathroom has marble counters, a rainfall shower and Aveda amenities. Glass and artwork add a dash of whimsy to the room.
Pool & Amenities
Donât let the posh atmosphere totally fool you, because the Hotel Indigo is plenty kid-friendly!
Families can enjoy a range of recreational amenities, including an outdoor pool, pool tables, jumbo Jenga, cornhole, foosball tables and ping pong.
The rooftop heated pool also sports city views. Deck amenities include lounge chairs, cabanas, and a seasonal pool bar. The pool is open daily from 6:30am to 11pm. In the evening, three fire pits on the pool deck add to the fun.
Hotel Indigoâs 24-hour fitness center is located adjacent to the pool. This well-appointed gym features floor-to-ceiling windows so you can take in the view of downtown Los Angeles and the pool area while squeezing in a workout.
Dining Options at the Hotel Indigo Los Angeles
The hotel has a number of on-site dining options. Grab a bite to eat at the hotelâs restaurant or stay in and take advantage of room service. You can also relax with a refreshing drink at the poolside bar or one of the 2 bars and lounges at the hotel.
During our stay, we had breakfast each morning at the Metropole Bar & Kitchen. Located off the lobby, this restaurant is open from 6:30 am to 11pm, and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Service was great and the food was good too, if a little pricey.
As a last resort, there is a grab and go station open 24-hours near the front desk for soft drinks, juice, fruit, and assorted snacks.
Adults looking for something a little more special can visit 18 Social, the top-floor cocktail lounge. Along with panoramic city views, 18 Social serves small plates of food to share, cocktails, beer and wine from 5pm to 2am daily.
