The easiest way to explore the city is aboard the St. Augustine Hop-On Hop-Off Trolley. The narration is great (you’ll learn a lot of cool things!), and you can get off at various stops to easily explore the city’s attractions, museums, beaches, historic sites, shops, and restaurants.

Led by knowledgeable and entertaining tour guides, Old Town Trolley’s Hop On Hop Off St. Augustine Tour is the ideal way to make sure you don’t miss a thing! We got the 2-Day Old Town Trolley Tour on our recent visit, and this made our whole trip a breeze.

Admission to the St. Augustine History Museum is included with your Old Town Trolley’s Hop On Hop Off Tour. The museum is located right next to the trolley loading area at the first stop, so it is very convenient. We enjoyed this museum very much! It showcases the area’s origins and was a great introduction to our St. Augustine vacation. 

Be sure to spend some time in the historical area of downtown St. Augustine. Among the many great spots to check out are the oldest schoolhouse and the Colonial Quarter.

Some of our other favorite spots to explore were the Ponce de Leon Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park, Castillo de San Marcos fortress, the Lightner Museum and the amazing St. Augustine Pirate & Treasure Museum.

Start at the Old Jail

Unless you are staying at a hotel in the heart of town, start at the Old Jail.

The main reason I recommend starting here is because Old Town Trolley offers free parking at this stop – something you won’t find much of anywhere else in St. Augustine. This makes it the perfect place to start your day!

This is also where you will find the St. Augustine History Museum, Oldest Store Museum, and the Old Jail. Be sure to leave yourself some time to explore these great exhibits.

You can hop off and back on anywhere along the route.

We also visited Oldest Store Museum and the Old Jail. Both were led by wonderful tour guides and very entertaining! Definitely worth the cost of admission.

Ghosts & Gravestones Tours

The Ghosts & Gravestones Tour  is a spooky nighttime adventure to experience St. Augustine’s darker side. The tour lasts 90 minutes. A “Ghost Host” will drive you to some of St. Augustine’s most famous haunted spots while sharing tales of the strange, creepy, and tragic sides of the city’s history.

This special tour is also the only ghost tour in town that offers guests access to the Old Jail and a nighttime experience inside the Chamber of Horrors at Potter’s Wax Museum.

Old Jail After Dark

Old Town Trolleys offers a special 10-person tour of the Old Jail after the sun has set. You will be able to use ghost hunting equipment to participate in paranormal investigations.

The Old Jail is recognized as one of the more haunted places in St. Augustine. This tour is limited to ten in order for guests to have a more intimate experience and have the opportunity to hear the stories and use the equipment to seek spirits and communicate with them.
