Looking for a great hotel in Long Beach, California? Here is a review of the Marriott Long Beach Downtown to help you decide where to stay.
With its elegant lobby, chic decor and comfortable rooms, the Marriott Long Beach Hotel finds a balance between trendy and classic. Located in the heart of downtown, this Long Beach hotel is a great place to call home base when visiting Long Beach with kids.
Long Beach is located on the coast of Southern California, between the urban bustle of Los Angeles and the suburban expanses of Orange County. My family and I stayed at the Marriott Long Beach on our recent visit and had a fantastic weekend. The rooms were nice and the views spectacular, and it was great to be in walking distance to so many restaurants and attractions.
Find out why the Marriott Long Beach Downtown – recently rebranded from a Renaissance Hotel – is a great place to settle in for the weekend.

The Hotel
Fresh from a recent renovation and rebrand, the Marriott Long Beach Downtown hotel is an upscale, casually elegant hotel. It boasts a brand-new lobby featuring a bar and lounge with indoor and outside seating, and a funky, retro design.

There is a restaurant, and lots of family-friendly amenities, including a pool (located on the roof on the third floor) and games on the pool deck.
A fitness center, also on the third floor, is large and has a good number of weights and machines, including a couple of Peloton bikes.
Rooms at the Marriott Long Beach Downtown
Rooms have recently been refreshed, and feature a palate of classic whites and tan. I have to say, it is a big improvement! While some might find the guest rooms dull, I think the decor is cool and refreshing.

Hotel rooms feature one king or two queen beds. There are also suites available, as well as Club level rooms. All rooms have a coffee maker and flat-screen TV.
► Travel Insight
Request an upper floor for better views of the harbor!
We stayed once back when this was the Renaissance, and it was a definitely negative having two double beds instead of two queens. When you are traveling as a family, bigger is always better when it comes to beds. I am happy to say with the renovations, there are now rooms with two queen beds!

On another positive note, the bathrooms at the Marriott are huge. There is a long, sleek counter and plenty of space to move around. Perfect if you are sharing the room with family.
Location
The Marriott Long Beach Downtown is ideally located in the heart of downtown Long Beach. It is within easy walking distance of the aquarium, Rainbow Harbor, the Convention Center, and Pine Avenue’s trendy dining and boutique shopping. If you are looking to be in the center of everything, this hotel is for you.

Here are some of the family-friendly attractions within easy reach of the Marriott.
- Aquarium of the Pacific
- Shoreline Village
- Long Beach Terrace Theater
- Queen Mary
- Catalina Express Boat Terminal
- Museum of Latin American Art
In addition to the many fun things to do in Long Beach, Universal Studios is just 30 minutes to the north, and Disneyland is 30 minutes to the east. There are numerous beaches within a short drive of Long Beach, so you can enjoy Southern California’s year-round sunshine and fun beach activities.
