Looking for family-friendly friendly activities to check out on your Vegas vacation? There are a bunch of cool things to do at Luxor Las Vegas.
The Luxor is an iconic resort on the southern end of the Las Vegas Strip, instantly recognizable by its pyramid shape and the powerful beam of light that shines into the sky from its point at night. You’ll also see the Egyptian theme carried through with its sphinx and other statues throughout the resort.
Even if you are not staying at the Luxor – and I will admit after staying at many, many different resorts in Las Vegas, Luxor is far from our favorite – you can still experience the hotel’s many attractions.

Family-Friendly Things to Do at Luxor Las Vegas
1. Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition

The Titanic exhibit is one of two awesome Las Vegas museums located inside the Luxor. Dishes, chandeliers, luggage, and wine bottles are just a few of the over 250 artifacts from the Titanic – recovered by divers from the ocean floor – on display.
After many years of meaning to go but never quite making it, I finally visited this Las Vegas Titanic Museum and truly wondered why I waited so long! The exhibit is extremely well designed, allowing you to travel through the different areas of the ship – steerage, crew quarters, second class, and finally first-class cabins.

There is also a reproduction of the famous Grand Staircase. You’ll experience what the passengers experienced onboard a luxury cruise ship in 1912, before it devastatingly struck an iceberg and sank.
Toward the end of the exhibit, you’ll see artifacts recovered from the wreckage, and even a large piece of the ship itself.
Whether you are a history buff or just loved the movie Titanic, this is a great Las Vegas museum to explore.
2. Bodies…The Exhibition

You may already be familiar with this educational exhibit, as there are a number of them all over the country. We visited Bodies at the Luxor Las Vegas Hotel & Casino.
If you are not familiar, Bodies is an exhibit that displays real preserved human bodies and body parts. The exhibit showcases 13 whole-body specimens and more than 260 organs and partial body specimens. The bodies are “respectfully presented,” giving visitors the opportunity to view the beauty and complexity of their own muscles, organs and systems.
Guests visit multiple rooms where the bodies of various gender and size are fixed in poses, showing you the muscles at work. Additionally, you’ll see interesting displays like a healthy lung and a smoker’s blackened lung. We found it very interesting and so riveting to see how lifestyle choices like smoking and lack of exercise can impact your body.
Both Bodies: The Exhibit and Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition are located inside the Luxor’s second floor atrium.
3. Discovering King Tut’s Tomb

A new addition to the Luxor, Discovering King Tut’s Tomb is an interactive, educational, exciting experience.
Step into the world of ancient Egypt and follow in the footsteps of famed archeologist Howard Carter, who uncovered the lost tomb of Tutankhamun over a century ago. Experience the excitement of his discovery as you explore the inner chambers, marvel over the great treasures within, and come face-to-face with the pharaoh’s mummy. See the king’s nested coffins and iconic death mask, and discover why the Egyptians used mummification as a way to preserve and honor their pharaoh leader.
Through virtual reality, you’ll explore the rooms and artifacts just as they were left over 3000 years ago. Light your torch, break the seal, defy the “mummy’s curse” and enter — if you dare. By Discovering King Tut’s Tomb, you’ll unearth the sights, sounds and wonders of ancient Egypt.
4. Visit Play Playground

Also new to Luxor’s ever-growing line-up of fun activities is Play Playground, a 15,000 square foot interactive attraction filled with over 20 hands-on games and activities and a bar that’s as playful as the games.
If you’ve ever wanted to go down a slide but couldn’t because you were too old, here’s your chance!
This is not a place for little kids, but something great to do with teens in Las Vegas. Playground access is 13+ before 7 pm and 21+ after 7 pm. It is located across from Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition on the hotel’s Atrium Level.
5. Take a Swim at the Luxor Hotel Pool

While the Luxor Las Vegas is slowly becoming one of the older hotels on the Strip, its massive pool area remains one of the best places to spend time.
With 125,650 square feet of space, the Luxor pool deck has four massive pools. There are also cabanas and day beds for rent, a whirlpool, lounge chairs, poolside beverage attendants, complimentary towels and lounge chairs. The Oasis Pool Café sells drinks, snacks, sandwiches, and cocktails.
The one thing I don’t love about this pool is that the walkway bridge from the casino to the self-parking garage crosses right over the pool, so people tend to stop and look down at the pool area. You will be on display.
The pools stay open all-year long, and even if you are not staying at the hotel you can purchase a day pass.
6. Enjoy the Spa

Of all the spas in Las Vegas, I am not afraid to admit that Nurture Spa at the Luxor Resort is one of my favorites. The reasons are simple: the spa facilities are small but luxurious, the treatments are top notch, and the prices are among the lowest of all the resort spas on the Vegas Strip.
Nurture Spa & Salon at Luxor Las Vegas offers the usual array of services – massage, facials, hair, nails, and makeup. I almost always get a facial when I go and it has always been a great experience.
In addition to changing areas and showers, the locker room has a dry sauna, eucalyptus steam room, Jacuzzis, and a relaxation lounge. If you don’t want to book a spa treatment, day passes to use the spa facilities are available.
7. See a Show
The Luxor Las Vegas is home to several live shows, including Carrot Top, Blue Man Group, Fantasy: The Strip’s Sexiest Tease, and Particle Ink.
Of the four shows, Blue Man Group is the most family-friendly. Featuring three talented performers all painted blue, the show combines music and entertainment for a high-energy fun experience.
Particle Ink is the newest, and it is unique in that the experience is interactive. Here is a description from MGM Resorts:
Particle Ink: House of Shattered Prisms is an all-new 360-degree experience. This one-of-a-kind experience takes you on a mind-bending trip into the 2.5th dimension – like stepping into a graphic novel come to life. With two distinct journeys to choose from, House of Shattered Prisms has options for all ages. The Wanderlust experience gives visitors the option to choose-their-own-adventure through the space while engaging with magical, interactive, and projection-mapped technology. During the evening hours, Wanderlust experience transforms to include live performances, acrobatics and seamlessly blended tech.
8. Dine at Luxor Las Vegas
When it comes to dining, the Luxor offers a diverse selection of restaurants to satisfy any palate. From fine dining to casual eateries, there’s something for everyone and every budget.
For a memorable dining experience (best for adults only), try TENDER Steakhouse & Lounge, which offers a wide range of steak and seafood options. Diablo’s Cantina is a colorful and tasty Mexican restaurant, located right next to many Luxor attractions on the second floor atrium.
For a more casual meal, the Pyramid Café provides breakfast and lunch in a relaxed setting right off the casino. If you are on a budget, you’ll appreciate the affordable options available at the Luxor Food Court, Starbucks, or Backstage Deli.
9. Ride the Free Tram to Neighboring Resorts

Las Vegas makes it easy to get around from casino to casino, and one of the ways they do this is by providing free tram service between hotels. But don’t let the word tram fool you – they are more of a monorail train than a tram. When my son was little, this was literally his favorite thing to do. They move fast and the views are great as you zip along the Strip. It is a fun way to get around town with kids and one of the many cool free things to do in Las Vegas with kids.
The tram at the Luxor connects the Excalibur Hotel & Casino, Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, and the Luxor Las Vegas. The ride is short, but it is a convenient way to get around.
Mandalay Bay is home to Shark Reef Aquarium, an impressive attraction housing over 2,000 marine animals and one of the most family-friendly attractions in Las Vegas. On the other side of Luxor is the Excalibur Hotel, a medieval-themed resort offering a variety of family-friendly activities and entertainment options. The Excalibur’s Fun Dungeon is a great spot for kids, featuring an array of arcade games and carnival-style attractions.
Worth noting, there is also an indoor walkway that connects these three resorts. If it is an especially warm day, staying inside will save you from the hot sun waiting at the Luxor’s tram station.
Final Thoughts: Things to Do at Luxor Las Vegas
Although MGM Resorts has made an effort to renovate the resort with fresh rooms and updated public areas, at more than 30 years old it remains a bit outdated. While there is nothing inherently “wrong” with the Luxor, it is far from our favorite Vegas hotel to stay at, but oddly has some of the best attractions and is a very popular hotel to visit.
With its cool Egyptian theme and soaring pyramid architecture, Luxor offers a unique blend of entertainment, dining, and gaming options. You can always find a deal on room rates, but even if you are not planning to stay here, swing by the Luxor to take advantage of its many fun offerings.
