Free Things to Do on the Las Vegas Strip
The Las Vegas Strip is full of fun, free attractions that are surprisingly kid-friendly. From iconic landmarks to free shows, these activities are walkable, centrally located, and perfect for families exploring Las Vegas with kids.
1. Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign

The Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign is an iconic landmark not to be missed on your Las Vegas vacation. Taking a picture in front of the Welcome to Las Vegas sign is one of the most popular free things to do in Las Vegas.
► Travel Insight
Lines to take photos in front of the Las Vegas sign can get long, so your best bet is to visit early in the day!
Alternatively, you can skip the line and still get a great photo. Stand just a tad off to the side instead of waiting to pose for a picture right in front of the sign. You’ll get a pic with a really cool angle 😉
Located on the south end of Las Vegas Boulevard, right at the foot of the Vegas Strip, the sign is easy to find and there is free parking available.
- 5100 Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas
2. The Flamingo Wildlife Habitat

Wander outside behind the Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel and Casino and you will find The Flamingo Wildlife Habitat.
This little wildlife sanctuary is an idyllic 15-acre paradise, complete with gardens, streams, waterfalls, exotic birds, turtles, fish, ducks, and a flock of Chilean flamingos. It is small but a really nice spot to walk around. If your kids love animals, they’ll enjoy seeing the fish and the resort’s flock of flamingos wandering around.
The Flamingo Wildlife Habitat is totally free, and open daily from 8 a.m. to dusk.
If you’re schedule permits, shoot to be there for one of the two live feedings every day, at 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
- 3555 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas

3. Pinball Hall of Fame

The Pinball Hall of Fame is located on the very south end of the Strip, past Mandalay Bay but not quite as far as the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign.
We visited this cool attraction on a recent trip to Las Vegas and no joke – this place is huge! You can easily spend a few hours having fun for very little money.
All the pinball machines, some dating back to the 1950s and 1960s, are owned by Tim Arnold, a former arcade operator and member of the Las Vegas Pinball Collectors Club. Proceeds from the museum go to charity. So if you are wondering what to do in Las Vegas that is family-friendly and also benefits a good cause, be sure to stop by the Pinball Hall of Fame.
- 4925 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas
- pinballmuseum.org
4. Bellagio Fountains

One of the most iconic attractions in Las Vegas, the Fountains of Bellagio is a must-see free show for anyone visiting the Strip. The Bellagio is one of the most romantic hotels in Las Vegas.
Combining music, dancing water and light, the Bellagio delivers beautiful performances daily this majestic water show. I absolutely love watching the fountain show and never get tired of it, no matter how touristy it might be! The show is set to everything from classical music to opera to Broadway show tunes to rock and roll, and of course plenty of Elvis and Frank Sinatra.
A great place to view the show is along the front rail along Las Vegas Blvd in the center of the lake. However, you can also see it from the back if you cross the driveway in front of the hotel entrance, and that way you’ll get to see the Eiffel Tower in the backdrop, too. I personally prefer this view!
If you are visiting during Christmas in Las Vegas, the Fountains at The Bellagio feature holiday-themed performances throughout the season, choreographed to classics like “Sleigh Ride” and “Carol of the Bells” for a special Las Vegas Christmas experience.
Bellagio Fountain performances run every day of the year and begin at 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, 12 p.m. on Saturday and holidays, and 11 a.m. on Sunday.

5. Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens

The Bellagio Fountains will wow you outside, but inside it’s all about the Conservatory and Botanical Gardens at Bellagio Las Vegas.
Open 24 hours a day, the Conservatory is completely free to enter. It features gorgeous displays of trees, flowers, and other plants set around a seasonal theme. Some of them even move!
There is also a fantastic restaurant adjacent to the Bellagio Conservatory; it is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal with the view.
The Conservatory at the Bellagio hotel is redesigned four times a year to reflect each of the four seasons, plus a special display for Chinese New Year. If you are looking for an amazing spot for photos, this is one free attraction in Las Vegas not to be missed.

6. Lost City Show at Miracle Mile Shops

The Lost City Show is a free 3D projection attraction at the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood. It features loud sounds and visuals of earth, water, fire, wind, and ice projected onto the V Theater facade and surrounding cityscape. The show takes place seven days at week, on the hour between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m.
It’s a pretty short show, so if you are planning to catch it don’t be late! Also important to note if you are not familiar (as I was not the first time we went) that the V Theater is located way in the back of mall. Be sure to leave yourself enough time to make it back there!
The Miracle Mile Shops are located inside Planet Hollywood on the Vegas Strip.
- 3785 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas
- miraclemileshopslv.com
7. Fall of Atlantis Show & Aquarium

Considered a cool destination on its own, the Caesars Palace Forum Shops is an indoor shopping, dining, and entertainment district.
But there is a free attraction at the Forum Shops you won’t want to miss if visiting Las Vegas with kids: The Fall of Atlantis Show and Aquarium.
The Fall of Atlantis is a kid friendly 11-minute animatronic show set in the kingdom of Atlantis and tells the story of King Atlas. It runs every hour on the hour beginning at 11 a.m. The show features special effects that make it one of the especially memorable free kids activities in Las Vegas.
In addition to the show, there is a beautiful 50,000 gallon saltwater aquarium filled with over 300 fish that you can enjoy even when the show is not running.
- 3570 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas

8. World’s Largest Chocolate Fountain

If you are visiting the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, be sure to swing by the World’s Largest Chocolate Fountain.
Located inside the Bellagio, the fountain is on display at the Bellagio Patisserie, a French bakery located just behind the Conservatory. You’ll be mesmerized by the multi-level fountain, churning over 2,100 pounds of creamy white and dark chocolate all day long!
- 3600 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas
- bellagio.com/restaurants/bellagio-patisserie
9. Ride the Rails for Free in Las Vegas

Las Vegas likes to make it easy to get around from casino to casino, and one of the ways they do this is by providing free tram service between hotels (usually owned by the same company) on Las Vegas Boulevard. When my son was little, this was literally his favorite thing to do. They move fast and the views are great as you zip along the Strip. It is a fun way to get around town with kids.
You’ll find free tram service connecting the Excalibur, Luxor Las Vegas, and Mandalay Bay Resort, and one connecting the Bellagio, Shops at Crystals, Aria, and Park MGM.
Free trams are not to be confused with the Las Vegas Monorail, which is not free but still a very inexpensive way to get around Las Vegas without a car. You can pick up the monorail at MGM Grand and ride it as far as the convention center, stopping at many resorts and attractions along the way.

10. M&Ms World

Located right next to the MGM Grand Casino & Hotel, on the Las Vegas Strip, M&Ms World is a four-story giant store celebrating all things M&M’s candy. Kids will love the giant wall showcasing tubes filled with different color M&Ms you won’t find anywhere else.

You can shop for candy and souvenirs, including clothes, stuffed animals, housewares, accessories, and so much more at the M&M Store!
There are also some great spots for photo opps, which we took advantage of on a recent visit with friends.
- 3785 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas
- mms.com/las-vegas
11. Hershey’s Chocolate World

If you prefer chocolate bars over M&Ms, visit Hershey’s Chocolate World.
Located in the New York New York Hotel & Casino, Hershey’s Chocolate World is a 2-story, 13,000-square-foot flagship store that showcases hundreds of Hershey’s candy products, along with clothing, gifts and souvenirs. The store features a sculpture of the Statue of Liberty made entirely of chocolate!
Kids can customize their own candy bars. Adults will want to swing by the adjacent Chocolate Bar (how cute is that?) for some specialty cocktails.
- 3790 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas
- hersheyschocolateworldlasvegas.com
12. The Coca-Cola Store

Keeping with our theme of free edible attractions, you won’t want to miss the Coca-Cola Store.
Located on the Strip just north of the MGM Grand Hotel, the Coca-Cola Store celebrates all things Coke. Of course you can shop and check out all the fun soda-themed gear, but you’ll want to stop by their beverage bar on the second floor for an Around the World Tray. You’ll get 16 different 4-ounce sodas from different countries around the world.
Who knew there were so many variations of Coca-Cola! Share the sips and you’ve got a fun family activity, and a bit of a cultural experience, too!
- 3785 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas
- coca-colastore.com
13. Fun Dungeon at Excalibur

The Fun Dungeon at Excalibur is a giant arcade located on the lower level of the casino. There are over 200 arcade games including both vintage and new video games, carnival games, and the World’s Biggest Pacman.
In my honest opinion, it is kind of dark and dated down there, but kids won’t know the difference and the bright, flashing lights are fun. Though the games aren’t free if you want to play.
- 3850 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas
- excalibur.com/fun-dungeon
14. Free Circus Entertainment

Like the name suggests, the Circus Circus Hotel and Casino is all about circus entertainment. It is home to the Adventuredome, an indoor amusement park with rides, arcade games, miniature golf, and more. It is the world’s largest permanent circus – though I have to admit – it does show it’s age. The hotel opened in the 1960s.
The Carnival Midway is located above the casino. It is the largest permanent circus location. Kids will love their free Circus Show, featuring jugglers, unicyclists, trapeze artists, acrobats, and more.
The 10-minute show runs every day, starting at 1:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11:30 a.m. Friday through Sunday.
The Adventuredome has roller coasters, bumper cars, and lots of other fun attractions for the whole family to enjoy. Entry is free and the circus show is free, but if you decide to go on any rides you can either pay for individual rides or purchase an all-day pass.
- 2880 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas
- circuscircus.com
15. Eataly Las Vegas

Love Italian food? Be sure to stop by Eataly Las Vegas, located inside the Park MGM Hotel and Casino.
Comprised of more than a dozen authentic Italian eateries and hundreds of high-quality products, Eataly Las Vegas is a 40,000-square foot Italian marketplace where you can eat, sip, shop, watch and learn. They have stations for pizza, pasta, wine, cheese, gelato, and many other Italian delicacies.

Eataly is totally free to enter, but of course you need to purchase food if you want to try anything. Regardless, kids will love walking around watching pasta being made fresh, and other food demonstrations.

16. Free Street Entertainment in Front of New York-New York

One of the easiest and most entertaining free things to do in Las Vegas with kids is catching live performances on the outdoor stage in front of the New York-New York Hotel & Casino.
This area regularly features free live shows on a dedicated stage, with performances ranging from musicians and singers to high-energy dance acts and interactive entertainment that naturally draws a crowd. Because the stage is set back from the main walkway, families can comfortably stop, watch for a bit, and move on when the kids are ready — no tickets or reservations required. It’s cute to see little kids dancing and kids are totally welcome!
In addition to the stage shows, you’ll often spot street performers nearby, including magicians, costumed characters, and other rotating acts that add to the fun. The mix of scheduled stage performances and spontaneous street entertainment means there’s almost always something happening.
The atmosphere here is lively and upbeat but generally more relaxed than Fremont Street, making it a great option for families who want a taste of classic Las Vegas entertainment without things getting too intense.
Top Tip: Watching the stage performances is completely free. Some nearby performers may work for tips, but there’s no obligation; just enjoy the show for as long as you like and continue on your way.
- 3790 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas
17. The Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian

If you’re looking for a free activity that feels a little magical (and air-conditioned), head to the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian.
This indoor shopping district is designed to look like the streets of Venice, complete with painted skies, bridges, and canals. Even if you don’t shop or ride the gondolas, simply walking through is an experience — kids love the colorful buildings and the feeling of being “outside” indoors.
You’ll often hear live opera-style singing from the gondoliers, and there are plenty of spots for photos. It’s a relaxing, visually fun stop that costs nothing and gives everyone a break from the heat.
- 3355 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas
- grandcanalshoppes.com
18. The LINQ Promenade

The LINQ Promenade is a lively outdoor dining and entertainment area located between the LINQ Hotel and the High Roller Observation Wheel.
While attractions like the High Roller require tickets, the promenade itself is free to explore, with plenty of fun energy, music, and people-watching opportunities. Kids will enjoy the open layout, bright lights, and occasional live entertainment or pop-up performances.
It’s also a great place to take a break, grab a snack, and enjoy the buzz of the Strip without stepping inside a casino.
Top Tip: If you are looking to eat on a budget, The LINQ Promenade is home to In-N-Out Burger, one of the cheapest (and best!) casual places to eat with kids.
- 3545 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas
- linqpromenade.com
19. Big Elvis at Harrah’s Piano Bar

For the full Vegas experience, you’re gonna need a little Elvis. Or in the case, Big Elvis. Luckily, you’ll find him at the Piano Bar at Harrah’s, performing afternoons several days a week. Best of all, live music with this Elvis impersonator (the longest-running tribute show in Vegas, by the way) is completely free.
I’ve been to this show a couple of times and it is always fun! Big Elvis draws a lively crowd and because it is in the afternoon, the atmosphere doesn’t get too rowdy. However, this one is kind of cheat because the bar is 21+ so kids can’t come in. However, I thought it was worth noting just in case you can leave the little ones behind to check out one of the best free things Sin City has to offer.
Check the website for Big Elvis performance times! You can also catch a dueling pianos show here and other free entertainment rotating through when Elvis is not in the building.
- 3475 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas
- caesars.com/harrahs-las-vegas/piano-bar
20. Enjoy Time at the Pool

This one might sound obvious, but you’d be surprised how many people overlook the sheer joy of just hanging out by the pool. Part of what makes Las Vegas resorts so great is there amazing pool areas.
Regardless of if you are staying on the Strip or off, when you book your hotel, be sure to choose one with a great pool. We love the Mandalay Bay pool because it has a lazy river, wave pool, and sandy beach. If your kids love lazy rivers, Mandalay Bay Beach is definitely a great spot to spend time during the day.
► For even more fun at the pool, check out these Las Vegas hotels with lazy rivers.
Free Things to Do Off the Strip & Downtown Las Vegas
Just beyond the Strip, Las Vegas offers even more free attractions that families love. From animal habitats and light shows to museums, playgrounds, and immersive art spaces, these off-Strip and downtown activities are worth the short drive and add variety to any Vegas itinerary.
21. The Downtown Container Park & Treehouse Playground

Swing by for lunch, shopping, or just the chance to let kids run around and play at the Downtown Container Park. Located in downtown Las Vegas, this shopping and entertainment venue is literally made from shipping containers.
At the center of the Container Park is the Treehouse Playground, which includes a 33-foot slide, bridges, and an interactive NEOS play system. Playing here is not only one of the most unique experiences in Vegas for kids, but it is a great way for them to enjoy the outdoors and burn some energy.
There are also free events, live performances, movie nights, and holiday celebrations throughout the year that families can enjoy.

The Downtown Container Park is located just a few blocks away from the Fremont Street Experience. Kids are allowed in the park until 9 p.m. daily. After 9, the park is open to adults 21+ only.
- 707 Fremont Street, Las Vegas
- downtowncontainerpark.com
22. Fremont Street Experience

Frankly, I don’t love Freemont Street for kids. I think it’s a little gritty and not really designed to be family-friendly. BUT – if you are looking for a uniquely Vegas experience and your kids love a good light show, come downtown to the Freemont Street Experience and check out the Viva Vision Light Show. It is located near the Golden Nugget Las Vegas.
Viva Vision is the largest video screen in the world, with 12.5 LED million lights stretching 1,375 feet long, 90 feet wide, and suspended 90 feet above Fremont Street’s famous pedestrian mall. Every night, the screen light up with dazzling displays synchronized to rocking music. The show lasts about six minutes and runs on the hour, from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.
We were recently visiting during the month of December, and the screens were lit with holiday decorations all day long. There is also a big Christmas Tree.

Again, the area can get a little wild, so keep your kids close and go on the early side of the evening if you want to catch the light show. You’ll also find plenty of neon lights at night, street performers, and live free concerts in Downtown Las Vegas, too.

23. Mystic Falls Laser Light Show

Take a leisurely stroll in the park day or night inside Mystic Falls Park at Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall. Relax to the sound of a waterfall, complemented by the soft chirping of birds in live trees reaching up toward the skylight 10 stories above.
Kids will love the famous Mystic Falls Laser Light Show, a show of water, lasers, lights, sounds and animatronics animals. The show takes place three times a day, four on weekends!
- 5111 Boulder Hwy, Las Vegas
- samstownlv.com
24. Ethel M Chocolate Factory

Love chocolate?
Take a short drive to the Ethel M Chocolate Factory, where you can take a free self-guided tour, eat free samples, and watch chocolate being made from the factory viewing aisle, behind large glass windows.
We recently visited and it was very cool to stand behind the glass viewing wall and watch workers in the factory. They even gave out free samples while we were in the store afterwards.

While you’re at Ethel M Chocolates, go for a stroll through the three acre Botanical Cactus Garden (also free admission!). There are 300 species of cacti, succulents, trees and shrubs.
If you are from an area of the country where cacti are native, you probably won’t be super impressed. But if your kids are not familiar with these desert plants, they’ll enjoy checking them out! Come at Christmastime, and the gardens are transformed into a decorated holiday wonderland.
While touring the factory and cactus gardens are free, there are some optional experiences to consider if you’re a super fan – including chocolate tastings (one on the High Roller Observation Wheel) and other events.
- 2 Cactus Garden Drive, Henderson
- ethelm.com
25. AREA15

AREA15 is one of the most unique places to visit in Las Vegas! It is free to explore and seriously cool for kids!
Located just off the Strip, AREA15 is an immersive entertainment district filled with massive art installations, colorful murals, interactive sculptures, and futuristic vibes that feel straight out of a video game. Simply walking around is an experience in itself, and kids will love exploring the open spaces and snapping photos with the larger-than-life displays. While many attractions inside require tickets, entry to the complex itself is completely free. The free access pass to Area15 also includes Origin Quest – a self-guided scavenger hunt throughout AREA15, and the Art Quest digital art tour.
Throughout the year, AREA15 also hosts free events, pop-up art experiences, and seasonal activations, so it’s worth checking their calendar before your visit.
While popular attractions like Omega Mart and VR rides are ticketed, you can absolutely enjoy AREA15 on a budget by treating it as a free exploration stop — especially great if you are visiting Las Vegas with teens or tweens.
- 3215 S Rancho Dr, Las Vegas
- area15.com
26. See the Mermaid Show

If your kids are fascinated by mermaids, check out the free Mermaid Show at the Silverton Casino Hotel. Named the “Best Free Attraction in Las Vegas,” the Mermaid Show takes place in the casino’s 117,000-gallon aquarium. (There are also thousands of tropical fish swimming about, fun to watch even if mermaids don’t happen to be your thing.)
You can also catch their interactive feedings every day at 1:30 and 4:30 p.m.
The Mermaid Show is 100% free and runs several times throughout the afternoons on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This is a great free activity in Vegas for kids!
- 3333 Blue Diamond Road, Las Vegas
- silvertoncasino.com
27. Red Rock Canyon

Are you a nature lover? Don’t miss the chance to experience some of the region’s natural beauty with a visit to Red Rock Canyon.
Located just a short drive from the Vegas Strip, Red Rock Canyon trades the lights of the city for some of the most stunning scenery in the West. It is one of the most memorable free things to do in Las Vegas with kids! (Note however there is a minimal parking fee per vehicle.)
► Travel Insight
Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, and even the Grand Canyon National Park are also very fun and doable day trips from Las Vegas.
If your family likes to hike, there are a variety of hikes you can do for various levels of fitness. If hiking isn’t your thing you can enjoy the scenic drive, viewpoints, and the visitor’s center.

- 1000 Scenic Loop Drive, Las Vegas
- redrockcanyonlv.org
28. Seven Magic Mountains

Kids will be in awe of giant, towering, colorful boulders, and unlike other public art attractions, you can actually walk among them here. Admission and parking are both totally free.
Seven Magic Mountains is a public art installation located approximately ten miles south of Las Vegas. Comprised of seven towers of colorful, stacked boulders standing more than thirty feet high, Seven Magic Mountains “punctuates the Mojave with a poetic burst of form and color.” It was supposed to be temporary, but due to its popularity Seven Magic Mountains has been extended to stay on display.
29. The Shelby Heritage Center

Despite its Sin City nickname and reputation, there are many family-friendly things to do in Vegas. And luckily, many of them are absolutely free! Whether you are looking for free shows or want to take advantage of the sunny weather and do something outdoors, there are lots of options both on and off the Vegas Strip.
