Located in Adventureland between the Enchanted Tiki Room and Jungle Cruise, the Tropical Hideaway is where all your Dole Whip dreams can come true! Read on for everything you need to know about this new quick service location at Disneyland.
Where to Find Dole Whips at Disneyland
The Tropical Hideaway is located on the shores of the Jungle Cruise at Disneyland. Grab a bite and relax on an open-air dock along the waterfront! The Tropical Hideaway is the perfect spot to take a break and the best place to find a Dole Whip at Disneyland. It’s like a mini-vacation within a vacation.
The Tropical Hideaway takes the shape of an exotic marketplace, complete with palm-thatched roofing and colorful tropical decor that will make you feel like you’re on an island in the South Pacific. Accessible by a bridge from the Enchanted Tiki Room or a pathway which runs along the water from the Jungle Cruise dock, The Tropical Hideaway â which opened in December 2018 â is the perfect addition to Adventureland!
Welcome to The Tropical Hideaway
Get it? âTropical Hideawayâ is a line from the Enchanted Tiki Room song, so itâs no surprise youâll find a familiar feathered friend greeting you there. Rosita from the Enchanted Tiki Room has flown the coop for a solo act at the new Tropical Hideaway. She spends her time telling jokes and reminiscing about the hideaway. Kids will love listening to Rositaâs stories, and donât be surprised if there is a line of people waiting for their turn to take a selfie with her!
Taking the space previously home to the old Aladdinâs Oasis attraction, The Tropical Hideaway is a much-needed dining venue in Adventureland. Disneyland converted retail space into a seating area next to the nearby Bengal Barbecue to accommodate guests in this always-crowded area. In recent years, they also removed the marketplace next to the Jungle Cruise to make way for strolling parking. So The Tropical Hideaway is a welcome area of respite at the park.
We were there and loved just having the chance to sit and enjoy our snack while watching boats go by. It was a great spot to recharge for the rest of our day at Disneyland!
Dole Whip Bliss at Disneyland
The Tropical Hideaway is the destination for extraordinary worldly eats. Menu items include warm steamed bao buns, chilled ramen salad, Sweet Pineapple Lumpia, Dole Whips and more.
Yes, I said Dole Whips. They are an absolute must-do whenever my family visits Disneyland, and an ever popular crowd favorite. (Here’s hoping this additional new location to order them will help alleviate the long lines that form in front of the Enchanted Tiki Room!)
You’ll find some new Dole Whip flavors at The Tropical Hideaway, too! They offer orange and raspberry, as well as the classic pineapple flavor. These can be ordered in a cup or as a float. Swirl options are also available; you can try pineapple and orange swirl or pineapple and raspberry swirl.
And clocking in at under 100 calories, Dole Whips are not only yummy, they are a fabulous choice if you are trying to eat healthy while traveling.
Youâll definitely want to try the exotic Sweet Lumpia or the Chilled Ramen Shaker with fresh vegetables, ramen noodles and cashews with Asian vinaigrette dressing. Other healthy options include Lime Chicken Bao, pineapple spears, whole fruit and baked chips. You can view the Tropical Hideawayâs full menu here.
An Adventure in Decor
Honestly, the most appealing aspect of the Tropical Hideaway isnât necessarily the menu, but the atmosphere.
The Tropical Hideaway is designed to look like a native Jungle Cruise dock. There is a stack of cargo with headhunter spears, totem masks, bags of rice and wooden crates.
When you enter the area, youâll be greeted by merchants peddling their goods and the sights and sounds of a bustling bazaar – from an absent Moroccan lamp sellerâs stall to the food vendors offering all the sweet and savory options. At sundown, the ambiance is transformed by flickering torch lights that illuminate your way through this truly enchanted setting.
Towards the back of the restaurant, a row of oars in different shapes, sizes and colors tell a story. Oars have shark bites, bullet holes and arrow heads. One of them has an alligator skull clamped on to it!
Next time youâre at the Disneyland Resort, be sure to stop by. Even if youâre not that hungry. You have to check this place out to truly experience Adventureland!
