Tradewinds Island Resorts in St. Pete Beach
With its calm warm waters, breathtaking sunsets and tons of family-friendly activities, St. Pete Beach is an amazing family vacation destination. And if your headed to St. Pete Beach, Tradewinds Island Resorts is where you want to stay! With a combined seven swimming pools, 14 restaurants, spa, Kids Club, family-friendly activities and of course expansive stretch of sand, Tradewinds offers an amazing vacation experience.
Here are eight reasons to make Tradewinds Island Resorts the destination for your next family beach vacation in Florida.
1. Tradewinds Sports a Casual Atmosphere
Just like youâd expect at a beach resort, the atmosphere is casual. Feel free to wander on up to the bar in your flip-flops and swimsuit. In fact, youâd probably feel overdressed wearing much more! RumFish Beach Resort – formerly Guy Harvey Outpost – has The Sandbox Beach Lounge, an outdoor bar facing the beach with live entertainment, drink specials, and a fire pit every evening.
2. Fun Activities for the Whole Family
Between the two hotels, there are seven pools to choose from, including one for adults only at both Island Grand and RumFish Beach Resort. They are super clean and some overlook the beach. I actually didnât use the pools much, as I was only there for two days and wanted to soak in as much beach time as possible! The Gulf water was warm and clear and totally relaxing.
For sports enthusiasts who like their time in the water to be a little more active, there is paddle boarding, parasailing and snorkeling.
On the land, enjoy volleyball, water slides and a variety of other beach activities. Kids will love the big blow-up slide on the beach! You can purchase a day pass or pay per slide.
3. Play on the Floating Water Park
Kids will love play on the resort’s inflatable water park with slides, trampolines, ocean loungers, and island rafts. Floridaâs newest beach splash is a 15,750-square-foot inflatable water park. The water park features:
- Plunge Slide: With this widest water slide, the guests can plunge straight into the Gulf. It also has a climbing wall. Even two can slide at the same time.
- Free Fall: The Free Fall is a slightly smaller slide with a punch and a large enclosed splash zone.
- Jungle Joe: Jungle Joe delivers climbing fun, complete with climbing apex, ladder log and a mini.
- 7′ Iceberg: Test your coordination and balance as you conquer this mountain of fun.
- Fiesta Loungers: Relax on the large loungers immersed in the water providing a place to cool off and chill out in the Gulf of Mexico just 60 feet off the resortâs white sandy shoreline.
- Splashmats and Runways: Situated throughout the park, inspiring continuous free-play, and a serious case of the giggles, the splashmats and runways allow for running, playing and sunning.
- Foxtrotâ˘: The Foxtrot is a crowd favorite! Featuring a challenging balance beam, the Foxtrot accommodates up to four participants in head-to-head competition.
- Vista: There are countless ways to traverse this challenge! Climb over high roads or explore inner passages. For those who choose to linger, interior mesh floors create outrageous splash zones for up to six participants.
4. Eat, Drink & Be Social at Tradewinds Resorts
With 14 restaurants and bars to choose from, you wonât go hungry at Tradewinds. And while there are plenty of family-friendly spots, nothing is overrun with kids, and there are many options for adults only too.
Because letâs be honest, when you take a vacation without the kids, you want to be able to let your hair down and have a little fun. A great place to do this is at Sharktooth Tavern at Island Grand. This pirate-themed bar is where I found the best selection of imported beer. It offers live entertainment and karaoke on select nights. Another favorite, if you are looking for a fancier meal, is Palm Court Italian Grill at Tradewinds Island Grand Resort.
The RumFish Beach Resort is home to RumFish Grill. This restaurant is a must-try! RumFish Grill offers the finest Florida seafood plus a 33,500-gallon aquarium featured on Animal Planetâs Tanked.
5. Enjoy Roaming Cash-Free Environment
Since the resort fee covers an array activities at both resorts, you don’t have to worry about carrying cash. You can charge food and beverages to your room. This is a great perk! It was so nice to enjoy the beach without worrying about leaving my wallet unattended while I swam.
6. Just Relax
When I think of a beach vacation, what I really think about is lying on the beach with a good book, taking long walks, or sitting on my balcony and enjoying the view. While there is plenty to do at Tradewinds Island Grand Resort to keep the family entertained, there are also plenty of opportunities to chill.
And while most resorts charge extra for the use of beach chairs, Tradewinds doesnât go there. Among the many great amenities, the resort fee also allows guests unlimited use of the two person cabanas right on the beach, and the friendly staff to set them up for you. Can you say âcabana boy?â
7. Start Your Day with Yoga on the Beach
Tradewinds offers complimentary yoga on the beach every Friday and Saturday morning. I tried the yoga class and admit I was nervous about going, since yoga is not typically my thing. But the instructor was great, and almost everyone taking the class was new to yoga, so it helped not being the only newbie.
8. Enjoy the Spa at Tradewinds
Pamper your mind, body and soul at Body Works Salon & Spa at Island Grand, Tradewinds Resortâs spa and salon. The spa offers more than 25 treatments. This is a great spot to indulge in a coupleâs massage, or if you are with your gal pals maybe get some mani/pedis or a facial.
